Catherine O'Kane, an ADHD Coach

Meet your coach

Hi there!

I’m Catherine and I’m so pleased you’re here!

On the day these photos were taken, Andrée and I were talking about setting up ADHD Partners and trying to figure out what we might we be able to offer people that would be valuable and unique.

Andrée asked me, “Out of all the tools and topics you’ve learned and used to tackle your own ADHD challenges, which one have you personally found to have the greatest benefit,… and how are you adapting that for use with your coaching clients?”

I loved my coaching studies.  Learning about ADHD and developing my coaching skills is my bliss.  I continue to find it fascinating and rewarding.

But I had to admit, for all the ‘experts’ I’d consulted, and all the topics I’d studied; all the webinars and reading of research papers,… I was very clear: these were not what had the biggest impact on me.

I replied to her question without pause.

“The biggest impact on me has been the friendships that I’ve made, and the impact that individual people have had on me.

It was through conversations with other neurodivergent people who saw me, often more accurately than I saw myself, that I really started to make progress with the things that I was struggling with.

And the same is true for growing and developing my coaching practice.

The one thing I’ve learned that’s been most powerful, is that real growth and transformation takes place in connection and community with others.

Contrary to popular belief that we need to not care what other people think and just love ourselves, I believe that healthy community and connection is a vital part of finding and knowing ourselves.

As Bessel van der Kolk repeatedly iterates in his seminal work, The Body Keeps the Score, I believe we must be seen, known, understood and accepted by others first, before we can fully see, know, understand and accept ourselves.

Community and reciprocity is essential for our wellbeing and success. Few can survive the wilderness of life or business alone and unsupported.

This is why I’m so passionate about creating opportunities for people to connect and support one another.

There are few things more daunting than starting a new business, in a new career, when you’re still developing the skills of your new craft and figuring out who you are as a coach.

There’s no need to do it all on your own. Join ADHD Coach Connect for the continued community, connection and support that we all need as we embark on this wonderful, rewarding career.

Rana Dean, ADHD Life Coach

I highly recommend this programme to new coaches.

The ADAHD Coach Connect programme fills such an important gap in the market for new ADHD coaches who have completed their coach training but who have not yet started out in business. I’m so glad I joined this programme as it helped me to keep the momentum going on my journey to setting myself up as a coach, at a time when imposter syndrome and overwhelm could easily have taken oner! The group sessions provided just the right amount of structure and flexibility, allowing everyone an opportunity to work through whatever challenges they were facing and to celebrate each other’s successes.”
